At Trinity, we want students to develop a love of science and appreciation for the scientific world around us. In order to achieve this, the primary school uses a hands-on discovery approach designed to stimulate the students' natural curiosity and encourage independent exploration and discovery. The addition of the middle school building, St. Julie Hall, in 2002 allowed Trinity to realize one of its long-desired goals - a state-of-the-art science lab for our middle school population.
The laboratory experiences enable students to learn how to collect, analyze, and interpret data, as well as to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Students are encouraged to develop their own investigations and to test their own hypotheses. The combination of classroom and lab-based experiments foster appreciation and respect for the natural world.
As of 2013,STEM program was implemented . Students in grades 5-8 attend STEM class each week. Each class works through problems using science, technology, engineering, and math in a project based, student driven environment. The students are allowed to problem solve in a non linear format. They are encouraged to design and create solutions for many different problems such as energy use and conservation. Students create and program robots using the new Lego Mindstorms EV3 products. Students have the opportunity to compete in the Maryland Science Olympiad.
The science lab was home base for the development of Trinity's recycling program and garden. Depending on their grade level, students may study air and weather, biological habitats, physics of sound, the solar system, and chemical reactions.

Our staff has experience with ecology research and laboratory microbiology with concentration in cell biology, as well as many years teaching. We are fortunate to have such resources for our students.
