2019 Traditional Day Camp  

For children entering grades Pre-K to Grade 5 
In addition to our Weekly Themes, activities include:  swimming, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor organized games, scavenger hunts, music appreciation, and nature walks.

Themes for 2019 include: Young Chefs, Future Physicians, Stars & Stripes, NASA Space Explorers, Legos & Robotics, World Adventurers, HOCO Detectives and Trinity Olympics.

Weekly Theme Descriptions

Week #1   June 10-14    hosting Club Sci Kidz
Young Chef’s – This week Trinity Summer Camp is hosting ClubSciKidz for the entire week. Head into the kitchen to learn basic skills and make some delectable treats. Campers will learn how to make basic dough to make bagels, pretzels, and even play dough.  Bring out your artistic side as you make edible paint to decorate home cookies. Trick your senses as we make an apple-less apple pie! Older campers will use the scientific method to discover how different kinds of sugar affect the taste, appearance and texture of cookies. They will also compete in their own mini Cupcake Wars.
Week #2    June 17-21
Summer Arts & Crafts – We will create plenty of cool crafts using a variety of different mediums. Some examples include, wind chimes, bird feeders, planters, kites, self-portraits and shell necklaces.  We will also play outdoor games, enjoy games in the gym, and participate in water play and scavenger hunts.

Week #3    June 24-28    featuring Club Sci Kidz
Future Physicians – Do you want to live in the shoes of a physician and experience what it is like to be a doctor? Campers will learn about being a physician and participate in hands on experiments! We will also trace our own bodies, label our organs and talk about how to be healthy and happy humans!

Week #4    July 1-3
Stars & Stripes – During this short week of camp (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday) we will celebrate the US of A with a parade, patriotic songs, crafts, water play and a picnic!

Week #5    July 8-12   featuring Club Sci Kidz
NASA Space Explorer’s – Everyone loves space! Come discover and explore all of the amazing science that space has to offer. Younger Space Explorers will become astronauts in training as they learn about the sun, moon, planets and the life of an astronaut. Create moon sand and fizzing planets! Older NASA Space Explorers will learn about rocketry and launch their own rockets! 
Week #6    July 15-19   featuring Club Sci Kidz
Lego and Robot Engineering Week – Campers will become Lego architects and engineers this week! Younger campers will dive in and create some brand new Lego model builds, like a racecar, space shuttle and jumping rabbit. Older campers will learn more advanced robotics as they learn how to build and control an underwater robot.  

Week #7    July 22-26    featuring Club Sci Kidz and Mobile Mining Experience
World Adventurers – Our world is an amazing place, and this week we will be exploring many different wonders, places, and even times! Be a paleontologist and excavate dinosaur bones, traveling back in time to learn about these incredible prehistoric creatures. Travel to the deep blue sea to explore waves by making breakers in the bottle and using engineering and building skills to construct a replica pirate ship. Mobile Mining will join us for an afternoon of mining for gems and fossils! 

Week #8    July 29-August 2   featuring Club Sci Kidz
Howard County Detectives – Put your detective skills to work as you learn how actual detectives solve crimes. Learn how to use fingerprinting to solve crimes, pull the DNA from a strawberry or banana and use chromatography to find out which pen was used in a letter. Young detectives can also learn how to be a sketch artist using special software that the professionals use! 

Week #9   August 5-9
Trinity Olympics - During our last week of camp, all groups participate in week-long field day events.  Each group will choose a country to celebrate and complete in relay races, tug of war, balloon toss, cheer contest, and many more.  We will wrap up the summer with a parade of our country flags and a block party featuring game stations, a water slide, DJ and dancing.
