Mrs. Emily Atkinson is Trinity School's music director. She holds a Masters of Education Degree from Loyola College of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from the University of Mary Washington. She is certified in general and vocal education Pre-K-12.
A skilled musician in her own right, Mrs. Atkinson has performed in local choirs and concerts as well as teaching voice and piano privately.
Her experience is invaluable in guiding our students as they develop, explore and revel in the world of musical expression. We are fortunate to have such a resource for our students.
Trinity's inviting music room is located in the historic Corpus Christi Chapel building on our lovely campus. This spacious facility provides students with everything they need to experience the joy of music. Our music program includes a Concert Choir (5th and 6th grade), Ensemble (7th and 8th grade), and Trinity Ringers (7th and 8th grade). Our chorus performs Christmas and spring concerts, the Archdiocese of Baltimore Catholic Schools Choral Festival and in community nursing homes. Our bell ringers provide the musical backdrop to many concerts and events. Each year, the musical abilities of Trinity students are proudly displayed during Operation Love, our biennial Talent Show, 1st and 2nd grade Christmas musicals and for various prayer services and assemblies. A number of world-class instruments line the shelves of our music room including cabasas, shekeres, gong, rainstick and Orff instruments. In addition, Trinity offers music-based field trips to our students and a limited number of lessons in keyboarding. Beginning in the 2009-2010 school year, Trinity was pleased to fulfill its goal of adding a band program.
Plans for the future of our music program include adding to the Orff instrument collection, offering an opportunity for an honors choir and continuing the growth of our existing performance groups.
